Seahorse Gift Box

Good morning...how was your weekend? I hope it was filled with family and friends to celebrate our country's birthday...for us here, we just stayed in...they had cancelled the fireworks here, and it was just to darn hot go anywhere...

Today I'd love to share a project that I just love how it turned out. I have always had a fascination with seahorses since I was a little girl. I have loved this seahorse box from Dreaming Tree SVG  ever since it was released...and finally found a chance to make it...

If you know me, you know I love to make gift boxes that aren't your ordinary gift boxes...today, I've added photos to show you how I put this one together using corrugated boxes, acrylic paints, dollar store items and some chipped colored glass...Enjoy!!!
I'm sorry for any photo that is grainy or lighting is horrible...

isn't she a beauty.....

the back I just added strips of corrugated box and distressed it with the distress wheel...
the sides I over lapped them to make shingles effect...here you can see where I tore away some of the paper to expose the ribs...use this as a texture effect...
first paint black with a stiff brush...
use white paint and add water to it for a white wash...using a flowy kind of brush...
then dry brush the pool blue on using a fan brush...
then used distress ink to add more highlights...

I started with the glass in the areas I wanted to emphasize and edge...
sort out the glass pieces per sizes...this really helps in the process of filling them in...I also used super glue....it gives you time to move pieces and dries kind of fast....and glues very well once dried...
the next couple photos shows the direction I was going in...but I didn't like it and changed my mind and used the glass instead of the glass beads...now mind you, the glass beads are still underneath the seahorse..

this is what it would have looked like..minus the tree, flower and ribbon...it just wasn't working for me...
the pieces I used...I doubled every cut and glued them together before I painted...I also added foam board cut up so I could lift the seahorse off of the box...
this was an old tree decoration...I cut the base off and glued it down....I even used supper glue....
these are the tools and embellishments I used...below photos as well...

this is what it would look like without any other embellies....
Well I hope that you enjoyed your visit...and that you will give this a try with your next project...I absolutely love how this box feels in my hands....thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.....hugs from a very warm Charm City....

Father's Day Card

Sorry I'm late sharing this...but I just thought it was the cutest design from Dreaming Tree SVG..it's from the Dad's Day Bundle....very simple but way adorable...I can see other things this could be used for also...enjoy!!!

Santa Xpress Lighted Display Snow Globe

Happy Saturday...well it's almost Sunday here...Have you ever wondered how Santa and the reindeer are going to get around once the reindeer get old, and can't do the traveling any longer? Well I do believe I figured out what he will be using...a 4X4, a tiny house on wheels pulling the stables for the reindeer....ha ha....yep, another tiny house to add to my collection....

I have to say, that I really love how this project turned out. I have always wanted to make a snow globe and a lighted display case...so I decided to put them together. I made this for a contest over at Dreaming Tree Christmas Contest. I have to say thank you to the team over there. They have some of the best designs to work with. And so much inspiration from the community. You all are such an inspiration to me. If you take a gander over to the on line store, you'll see a ton of files to purchase...Dreaming Tree Store

I pictured in my mind that Santa and his gang were coming down the mountain into the city...hence that snow globe part...to cover up all of the white space at the bottom (to hide the fans) I used glittered houses and trees to simulate a little town...I chose not to glue anything down though...I wanted to be able to use this display case for other holidays down the road....

I hope you like the videos....Enjoy!!!

after trying to get a good video of the snow blowing, this was all I could do...I got great snowing while practicing, but then when it was time to film, it just didn't blow very good...it seemed like no mater how I taped the fans down or the wedges I used, it would work great...but come filming time, nope- not gonna happen...sorry it's not the best...just know, it looks awesome in person....

some photos of the process...I hand painted everything but the base.
I also added glitter to most everything either with spray adhesive or mod podge and a paint brush...

Santa and his gang....this has what files I used for them....if you scroll down to the next post, you can see closer photos that go to this video...

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have a wonderful Sunday...hugs from a very cold and wet Charm City.....

Santa Xpress

Good afternoon...Today I wanted to share a project that I've been working on for some time now. I really love how this has turned out....if you watch the video, you'll see all of the svg's that I used from Dreaming Tree...this is my first project using their files, and I was quite pleased at how easy these were to put together..and to take apart...lol....but if you know me, you know I simply love gift boxes...it's an addiction that I have...I cut everything out onto white or black cardstock and hand painted with acrylic paint....I also added cardboard to give it different textures and look..hand painted the glitter using a paint brush....so here is a set of 3 that can be filled with goodies and given as a gift to someone.....Enjoy!!!!

these are the bump outs on the sides of the Gingerbread House...just glued together...
Thanks for stopping by today....Hugs from a very wet Charm City...
