Love Notes Challenge @ Simon Says Stamp Moday Challenge

Happy Thursday Blogland...today I have a dozen roses, a box of candy and a card all rolled up into a vase..I made this for the challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge....ENJOY!!!!

ok, so I know this is way out in left field...I made this for DH..Our very first date was on Valentine's Day 18 years ago....so this year I wanted to make him something out of the ordinary ...I made a dozen roses (Recollections),  there's a box of chocolates (Card Connection) and a card stuffed inside a vase (upside down party hat) glued to an empty ribbon roll...and wa-la, Valentine's Day present rolled up into one...lol...and I'm actually thinking about sending this down to his work place...lol...now wouldn't he be the talk of the place....so what do you think? Is it to frilly for a guy?

just a close-up
***
PSX rubber stamps--Tm Holtz distress inks, metal numbers, book plate, door handle, mirror paper--Recollections paper flowers--Card Connection box of chocolates--Dymo label er--Darice paper doilies (used vintage photo- trimmed the centers out and glued to the backsides of the roses)--I also used red velvet paper for the heart inside and out. ..just another way to add another form of texture..

here's the card opened...notice key charm hanging from the Tim Holtz frame holder..I closed the gap to hold it in so that when the card is opened(it hangs on inside) and closed (it drops down as an added embellie on outside) Oh how I love two-fers...lol......

just a close-up of keys hanging down the skewer

backside...I added a punched heart that I sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist..I still need to figure out something for this side...it just looks unfinished...I glued feather and silver trim around the edges o the vase and spool...

I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to change the colors of the flowers from pink to Candy Apple Red with a touch of gold in there...

here's what they looked like after I hit them with the heat gun..I over dried to kind of scorch the paper and age them more...

I did 6 white flowers with Vintage photo...I wanted a contrast to the red...I also used it on the leaves...and Distress Stain for the skewers...

I used a Prisma pencil with Gamsol for he stamps..went over lightly with vintage photo and added a layer of Stickles...
*******
I would like to shout out to SSSMC design team...they all have one rockin style to them,...I'm loving the challenges and their creations are simply inspiring...if you haven't checked them out you must...you won't be disappointed...
**************
Here's a couple blast from the past Valentine's Day projects....just a different take on this same style hat...lol...

this was made into a cone style hanger...you can see more details here is you would ike to see more...just scrolll down the page to find post...

or this one...I used the hat style but added a bottom that opens up for the greeting...there is so much going on here..I jut didn't know when to stop...lol...check out the details here just scroll down for the post....
********
Well that's all I have for today...I do hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with great memories....Hugs from a cold Charm City..

Holy cow! This is amazing!! I am really wow'd and think you definitely SHOULD sent this to his workplace! If nothing more, all of his coworkers will know that he has the most talented wife in the universe! I thought this theme was so clever and you re-interpreted "traditional" Valentine's icons in a totally new and fresh way. I loved how the heart opened, too, and thought you were a brilliant engineer to figure out the structure of this whole thing. So creative! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing project with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog!
