Tiddly Inks Summer Challenge and an Award

Happy--Happy--Happy Friday!!!!! I can't believe it's the weekend!!! What about you? It's suppose to be cooling down some what but rain is in the forecast. So that is a pleasant surprise. I have a few things to share today....one is a blog award that I received from Scrappinlil. Thanks so much girl for thinking of me. And I'm sorry it's taken some time to post it.....she has a cute blog, so pop on over and check her out. So here goes....I have to tell who gave me this award.....ScrappinLil..... I also have to tell you 7 things about myself, and then pass this on to 5 other friends..... Well, for the 5 friends, I would love for you to take this award and add it to your blog. You all are my friends and I find each and everyone of you an inspiration to me. Thanks so much!!!!! Well, here's the 7 things about me.... I am a nerd!!!!! (our little one says so...lol) I miss scrapbooking our family photos I L*O*V*E Snow I love anything pasta I hate coffee (but drink it every day) I'm a pack-rat (only with my crafts) I Love my new friends at TBD!!!!! Well there you have it...7 things about me...some you may know and some you may not.....

Here's my entry for the Tiddly Inks Challenge #12--Summer fun with water, sand and toys...ENJOY!!!!!!

(front reads: does the song of the Sea end at the shore or in the hearts of those who listen to it)
I hope this one fits the theme. I actually had something else in mind using these 2 darling images ( bathing beauty and light my life ) from Tiddly Inks but this was how it ended up. Totally way different from I had envisioned. I also used Creative Imaginations Narrative's by Karen Russell transparency.....instead of leaving it as one piece, I cut it into strips and bowed them out leaving a tiny gap between each piece and sewed them. You can see that in the next photo....printed the digi's onto water color paper, used distress reinkers, hand cut the images out and added pop dots behind the beauty.
a closer view..... here's the inside....just used distress inks and added a couple more stamps.....I thought since this card was a bigger size that it would be a great card to write a letter to someone....
...........................................................................................
Well that's all I have....I want to thank everyone who stopped by yesterday and for your sweet comments on my project....they all really make my day......thank you!!!!!.....have a great weekend!!! Hugs from Charm City

P3 and Stamp It Crazy Challenges

Where the heck has this week gone? I remember it being oh that dreaded Monday, but now it's already Thursday. WOWZA!!!! Well, I have a couple things to share today. Let me warn you, this post is very long.......
First, I would like to thank P3 for choosing my project for last month as a top 3. That really made my day....thank you.....Now--over at Paper Cubed (P3)...their challenge this month is to make a some type of table top decoration. Well you know me, being a dork and all, didn't go for the traditional decoration...I went for something abit out in left field. I made a home made checkers table (with pull out divided drawer) Burton Style, game pieces, a counter bar and even a second game to play on top--Memory....so posted below are the photos of my entry into P3 July's challenge and then below that is my card for Stamp It Crazy's challenge of making a project/card using a witch, sentiment and ribbon......Enjoy!!!!!
you can click on photos to enlarge
here's the game with the checker pieces on top all ready to play a game. You know I built this whole set around 1 1/4" squares. I counted out the squares on a regular board (cuz I had no clue how many were to go on it) and went from there...1" squares were to small for the bottle caps, so I went just a size bigger.....and just used printer paper to make templates of the drawer and dividers to make it all fit together.....I also added a heavy layer of glossy accents to the top of the game pieces.... This is the drawer that pulls out. It actually pulls from both directions so each player can retrieve their own game pieces. I used Jack Skellington's that I got from Stamp It Crazy Store. They were so fun to work with. Hop over and check out the fun stamps....I used the stamp and pressed it into polymer clay, baked and added it to an embossed spider web cut from Quick Kuts. this is the other side using a different Jack stamp...this one is the tree Jack....making it the same as above with the polymer clay...kind of like a bead...
here's the drawer with the dividers....the center is where I added the memory card game pieces....the open sections I was thinking about making some more games....
here are the counters I added using polymer clay, heavy duty wire and the head stamp. I did the same with these but I actually drilled holes so the wire could go through...do you ever play Foosball? I got the idea from that with the counters. I call this the best out of five game box....ohhh and lookee, you can see my feet I added to the bottom....this brings the box up off of the table...I think I got these from the dollar store last year...just plastic little decorations...I hot glued them to the bottom....
here's what I used to make 16 games pieces....these were all un-loved and dusty....lol....
this is the bottom of the pieces...so that if you get crowned all you have to do is turn it over and wala....I kept them really simple, just painted them....and I didn't want to change the coke bottle caps either....authenticity.....lol....
here's the 20 pc memory game....this isn't just any memory game...it's a Burton Style Memory Game....I really needed to make this sort of a hard game for teens and adults. So this is what I came up with....oh isn't Jack just the cutest....all cards made out of water color paper (both sides) and chipboard and glued using wet glue (makes it even sturdier)..... cards are 1 1/2" X 2" ...
here's the fronts of them....I used the smallest jack head and made 2 cards of each number of heads...I used the spider web stamps from Inkadinkado for a background.....let me tell ya, this really isn't easy to remember...our little one and I played a few times the other day and she was even amazed at how hard it was.....you have to really think....woohoo...I accomplished it...and she really loves this set....I can see us playing on this for a long time to come too.....Well there ya have my entry into the P3 challenge....I have to say that I truly like how this turned out....now I need to think of a couple more games I can add to this, Burton Style....lol......
And here's my entry for Barb's challenge over at Stamp It Crazy Blog. I just found her blog to. So pop on over and play along this week. You just need to make something using a witch, sentiment and ribbon. How easy is that........on my card above I used MS boo and fence border punches (bowed outwards), added 2 different layers of ribbon and cut out the kitty from quick kuts (embossed him with the cuttlebug diamond folder and then wet embossed him using distress embossing weathered wood powder) hung him upside down to scare the witch (starving artists--colored in with prisma pencils), I used distress inks to color in the background and added the lil devils (Inque Boutique), spiders (Inkadinkado) and branch stamp scapes). I printed off the sentiment from the computer and added some acrylic letters with a ribbon card opener....
............................................................................................
Well, if you made it this far, thank you!!!!! I mentioned it would be a long post....and I hope it was worth it for you. So come on over to Stamp It Crazy and P3 to play along...remember SIC's challenge ends this Saturday and P3's challenge ends at the end of the month....have a wonderful Thursday......Hugs from a very HOT Charm City.....

Paper Take Weekly Challenge Sketch

Here's my second post for today...Please scroll down for The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge..... I am just getting into sketches these days. I remember I wouldn't touch a sketch because I didn't know what to do, am I doing this right kind of thing, attitude I had towards them. But I have to say, I really do enjoy using sketches. And this weeks sketch over at The Papertake Weekly Challenge Blog was a fun one to play with. Why not come over and give it a try? We had alot of fun and I bet you will too. So here's the sketch...Enjoy!!!!
See--easy-peasy!!! And here is what I came up with. I know, it's a super simple card for me. No bells or whistles or even lights. But I have to say, I really do like the simplicity of how this card turned out. I have been dying to use this image from Tiddly Inks. She has just the cutest digi stamps that I want them all.....lol.......So pop on over and check them out. On the stars I use red flock and white/blue shaved ice. Just a little dimensional thing.....I also added a second layer to the hat, tie and shoes...and then again on the independence word and have a few hangin stars behind it.....and wala--a card for next year....lol..... Well that all I have for today....don't forget to stop on over and play along this week at Paper Take Weekly challenge sketch. And check out the rest of the DT's work....They are simply amazing.....Have a great Tuesday.....Hugs from Charm City.......

Challenge #10 TBD--Burton Boys

This week we are being sponsored by Stamp It Crazy. And these stamps are CRAZY FUN!!!! Our challenge this week over at the Dollhouse--The Burtonesque Dolls Blog, is to create a card with a Burton Dude as the main image....on my card I used Hal87--Sic12--Goth17 on the front of the card. And on the inside I used Goth16.....the skinny skeleton I added a bead to his head for a different kind of face.....the background stamp I got from Magnolia-licious Store. It's such a great addition to make a haunted scene with. Other than that I used distress re-inkers and kept it monochromatic. I really wanted to make a guy card since they are so hard for me to make....... And I think I might give this to my nephew at Halloween time. I also added some stickles to the windows....Martha Stewart fence and leaf punches.....Well I hope you all stop over at TBD and play along this week....Enjoy!!!!!!
so, when does a skeleton laugh????????
lol....now wasn't this stamp just made for this joke???? I loved it the first time I seen it...it has so much character.....I used some red glitter on the tongue, some snaps for the eyes, a Tim Holtz metal leaves for the hair and some Tim Holtz jump rings for piercings to the eyebrow.....I just printed the joke onto water color paper and used distress inks.....Thanks for stopping by today...have a great Tuesday.....Hugs from Charm City.....

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #9 and P3 Challenge

Happy Tuesday. Well we all know what today brings. A couple of challenges that I'm in and one of them is in the dollhouse--TBD with all of the dolls. This week was such a fun week for the challenge that I actually ended up making 2 separate pieces. This week is about Tim Burton's Vampire movie. Well theoretically speaking. If Burton were to make a vampire Movie... what would the poster board look like? Create a project for an Upcoming Burton Vampire Movie! Now how fun is this. We got to use the darling digi's from Simply Betty Stamps. Aren't they just adorable. So below is what I ended up with for the challenge.....Enjoy!!!!!

It all started with a box that actually ended up made into a bag. I was going to use the side of the bag for my poster board. So as I'm making this box into a bag, I was searching for some sort of theme for this vampire movie. And low and behold I came across my bed stamp from Starving Artist--Doodle Factory. I knew exactly what I wanted my poster to be. "IN-Da-Bedroom"....lol....anyways to make a long story short, I thought this would be such a cool thing to do for DH. You know what I mean....So I made a lighted poster board/invite (on back--not finished...sorry) and a little bag to add goodies for him....it turned out cutesy (buy hey not all vampire movies have to be bloody...right)..I ran across a movie that is called Date Night on the net while searching for ideas--And I really wanted Vampire's in the name some how, so I thought why not make these guys Trixie and Louie Vampire (which these are their digi stamp's name in the store)..make it funny/quirky and weird---like---Married with Children-- sitcom..... and I thought with the black stripes it would show Burton's style. This could possibly be a total new direction Burton could think of going...lol...so what do you think? Think DH will like this?

Here's the poster board. It was actually simple with the exception of those darn lights ( I used 3-d pop dots with the exception of the center one...those were the smaller ones and they just didn't want to hold it). That center one, man...it just doesn't want to stay up. I got the lights from Wal-Mart in the wedding isle. Just little ones you can string on ribbon. They can be twisted to turn them on or off...and even using the 3-d pop dots the lights can actually be removed.... I added some Tim Holtz film for them to stand on and to give it some more dimension. The finished size of the poster board ended up being 8 1/4" X 5 3/4" . I know, it's an odd ball size...no rhyme or reason... this is with the lights on. They do a pretty good job only using 3 little ones. And here's my shopping bag. I made them the same with exception to the curtains and lights. The measurements are 9"H X 5" length X 2 1/2" wide....so it turned out to be a nice sized bag...I also used Tim Holtz filmstrip for the handles. this is just a side view..... I'm also entering this sweet little bag into the challenge over at Paper Cubed--June --some type of treat container....well who says treats have to come out of the grocery store....lol.....they could come from Fredericks....or Macy's....or Victoria Secret's...or even that darn ol 24 hr place down the road....lol....you know the one I'm talking about......just kidding...anyway here's what I made......I really like this challenge blog that I happened upon....I can't wait to play some more with their challenges...... Well, that's all I have for now. Don't forget to stop by the dollhouse--TBD blog and check out with the other dolls made.... play along this week. And run right over to Simply Betty Stamps . She has some really cools stamps and digi's. .....But make sure you come back and check out who won my blog candy that's posted below and for the PTW Challenge. If you haven't heard about PTW, then just pop over to the blog and check out the challenges. They are really fun. Hope to see you then....Hugs from Charm City

2S4Y and Tiddly Ink Challenge Cards

Happy Saturday everyone. It's been such a long week for me over here on my part of bloggland. I've been so sick with bronchitis and it's finally starting to give me some relief. Although I haven't been able to sleep much lately with all of the coughing. My throat's on fire and I feel like I have pulled muscles in my belly from the chronic coughing. Not to mention I don't have a voice right now. So this morning, which I've been up since about 1 a.m. , I was able to make a couple cards for some challenges and I wanted to share them .....Enjoy!!!!
This card I made for 2S4Y. It's Kazan's sketch #55...I found this really fun to play with. It's been awhile since I've been able to play with them over there to. I used a stamp that I had to dust off from Paper Artsy and layered it 3 times and added glossy accents to the top layers, added some feathers, a bow, flower and some star bling...the paper is from My Mind's Eye.....I have to say that I really do like how this card turned out to..
This card I made for Tiddy Inks embellishment challenge. We were to use lace or buttons or both. I used a couple of Christy's digi's on this and turned them into shrinky dinks. I just opened MS Word and made my images about 3 times bigger than they were. Because you know how shrinky dinks shrink after they have been heated. I also lightened the contrast before I printed them off, and colored in the images with chalk, added a cute little acrylic heart onto the froggie from Heidi Grace....
just a close view of Mr. Froggie and the teenie tiny heart....this was the perfect size too.....
and here's a little closer view of the digi going swimming. Isn't she just soo cute in her tire tube....this so reminded me of our little one so I just had to have her....if you have been over to Tiddly Inks you should. She have just the cutest digi's. Christy has a sale going on right now to....
Well that's all I have for today. I'm going to try and work on some more challenges. I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon....hugs from Charm City

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #8

Happy Tuesday...It's time for another challenge over at TBD. This week we were asked to make a toe tag using Beetle Juice as inspiration. I hope I did this tag justice for the movie..This is all I could come up with.....So if you get a chance this week we would love to see your toe tags for the challenge. So stop on over to The Burtonesque Dolls Blog and see what the other designers have come up with. They really out did themselves this week......Enjoy!!!!!

I used an over sized Manila tag--distress inks--motorcycle skull stamp is from Class Act--skull and stars stamps are from Inkadinkado--border spider web stamp from Hampton Art--bat stamp JoAnn Essentials--all of the embellies are from Tim Holtz except for the google eyes and skull doo-hickeys--and I also used grunge paper to stamp the Class Act stamp onto and cut it out and added pop dots behind it...the live your life you've imagined stamp is Tim Holtz and I made that using Darcie's shrink plastic....

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday....Hugs from Charm City.....

Ella's Pink Scrapbook--Challenge #11

Good Morning bloggers.....this is my second post for today, so if you're looking for The Burtonesque Dolls challenge post, please scroll down.
I made this layout for the challenge on The Pink Elephant. I didn't have enough time to do last weeks, so I made sure I was able to do this week's challenge. I really miss making my layouts for our family albums. So I'm really going to try and do this challenge every week...so here's what I came up with....the challenge was to use black and white photo and any color choices for the rest.......Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments....they really make my day. ..Enjoy!!!!!!here's the whole layout....... I make 8.5X11 size layouts, so it's always a challenge when there's so much you want to put on a layout. And I really try to keep them only single instead of a double...it just makes my life easier...lol....the photos do open up for more photos, journaling and 3 separate tags that pull out as well.... this is the opening....I used Tim Holtz' artillery....lol....
just a closer look at the bottom title....
the opened view....journaling will be stats of the school, teachers, special things that happened...and what ever else little Missy here would like to have....
here's all the tags pulled out....the small one on the right will be notes from Mom and Dad...the big one in the back will be the class photo......Well that's all I have for today....Come and check out both challenges... The Burtonesque Dolls Challenges and The Pink Elephant Challenges...there is also a card challenge that they have on the site as well......Have a great Tuesday....Hugs from an extremely HOT Charm City!!!!!

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #7

Welcome to a new week and a new challenge over at The Burtonesque Doll's Blog. Our challenge for this week is---A creepy Birthday to you! Make a birthday card and creep it out Burton Style! Our sponsor this week is Tickled pink Stamps. Pop over and check out the awesome stamps that she has in the store. The one pictured below is Lylah. Isn't she just too cute...I thought this would be a great image to make a birthday card ....instead of a card I made a box to put goodies inside. Then on the inside lid I thought I would add a greeting there when I decided who was going to get this box so I left it blank for now....Well I hope you will join us this week for the challenge at TBD blog. Thanks for stopping by today....Hugs from Charm City.... I colored the image in with Prisma pencils and the background, stars, keys and the skull with distess re-inkers...I didn't want to add glam because I was thinking this could be a guy card/box... I also used wet glue as it makes your cardstock/paper so much harder when it dry's...a nifty little tidbit instead of using chipboard to make the box...I used one of Tim Holtz' hitch to go through the eye of the skull...wanted to give the illusion of a sword...
here on the side I used Tim Holtz' grunge board keys for my closures...and the buttons are strung together to keep the sides together...I opted for this instead of a regular box ...just wanted to make something different.....

Magnolia--Inky Antics--Dallas Cowboys Cards

Happy afternoon bloggin friends...Just a little quickie...I wanted to share a few cards that have been sitting here on my desk and haven't had time to upload them..... Enjoy!!!! here's a maggie card I made sometime ago...I used Prisma pencils back when I was using them...the little cherish greeting is actually one of the photo hangers that Junkitz/Tim Holtz was selling way back when. I just trimmed it down to fit inside of the flower....I had this sitting here but then I added the prima's to add a little more pizazz... here's is a card that's really not that old...I just hadn't been able to share it....the rubber stamps are from Inky Antics...I absolutely loved this set..it's just so fun to play with...this card turned out really busy but I kind of liked how it turned out....I used distress inks to color the image and background in....added black stickles and put little doo dads in the center of some of them.... this was the quote that came on the set....now isn't this just the cutest saying...and for me, soooo true....lol.... and here's a card I actually made last year for DH for his birthday. Now if this set isn't old...I've had this like forever and finally had gotten around to making a card for him....He just loved his Cowboys...or should I say, Cowgirls....lol....well that's all I have for today....I'm off and running for now...DH is getting on my case about getting things done around here....he says I spend to much time on the computer/crafting....at least he's not complaining about spending to much money....lol...Hugs from a very warm Charm City
