Live the Life You've Imagined

Happy Hump Day Blogland...It's going to be very hot today in Charm City. Did you all see the creations from the Dolls yesterday from the challenge this week? If you haven't it's a must see..so hop on over to The Burtonesque Doll's challenge blog as soon as you're finished here. You truly won't be disappointed. They have some extremely amazing and stunning creations this week. I would like to say I'm sorry for being missing in action lately. We have been going through a huge family crisis and I do believe we have finally gotten it resolved. More on this at a later time, but for now I would love to share with you a Maggie (ok well Edwin) card I made yesterday while my internet was wonky. I couldn't get on for the life of me. And when I was able to it would only let me click a few things and then back off it went. I think it took me about 3 hours to post my challenge card yesterday morning. Anywhoo, here he is. I'm thinking this might either go to hubby (as he sooo wants to move to a beach somewhere) or my Father-in-Law (which he lives at the beach now)....Enjoy!!!! this is just a view from the top......
here's the front view....there is so much going on with this...but I have to say I really love how this card turned out. Don't you just love it when a plan turns out the way you had envisioned? All coloring was done with re-inkers, I also added stickles, Tim Holtz film strip-snaps-metal flower-ball hitch--and the stamp on the shrink plastic...Edwin is from Magnolia and the background and posts are from Starving Artist....
Here's a closer view of the shrink plastic--film strip--metal flower and ball hitch all layered as one piece...I truly love this....lol......Well that's all I have for today....I hope everyone enjoys their happy hump day!!!!! Hugs from a very HOT Charm City

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #4

Can you believe it's Tuesday already? And you know what that means, it's time for another TBD challenge. This week we are playing with Busy Beauties, they are our generous sponsors! Thanks, Carolyn & crew! Last week, Busy Beauties released some wicked cool images that fit perfectly with this week’s Burtonesque challenge: AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER. Create a new card, ATC, scrap page, etc. inspired by Tim Burton’s The Corpse Bride! You have until Monday at 10:00 p.m. PST to link your creepy cool creations at The Burtonesque Dolls blog. One lucky challenge player will win their choice of 5 (FIVE) images from the Busy Beauties Boutique! For more inspiration, please be sure to visit all the Dolls, especially our newest Doll, the lovely & talented Eulanda! Here is my card for the challenge.... I used the Queen from Busy Beauties Boutique. Isn't she just darling? I also used a bunch of other stamps to make the background and colored them in with Distress ink refills. I also used Tim Holtz' line of products for the plate (behind the Queen), grunge paper for flower, film strip and button. I cut 3 dahlia flowers from Spellbinders to make my flower--colored in with broken china and stamped with Tim's word stamp. Here's a closer look of the flower using the grunge paper.....I just love this button. This turned out totally different than what I had expected it to, but I kind of like it. A bit different........Well that's all I have for today...I hope everyone can join us over at TBD for this weeks challenge....Have a great week...Hugs from Charm City....

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #3

Happy Challenge Tuesday all you Burtonesque Dolls followers. Today marks for a new challenge. Are ya ready? We were sponsored this week by Tickled Pink Stamps. The stamp I used was from the Lil Lolita collection --Lilith. And let me tell you, these stamps are just way to fun. I want them all...lol....so hop on over and check them out. You are going to go crazy for them. They so fit right in here with the challenges.... So onto this weeks challenge over at TBD. We were asked to make a card using skulls and black flowers and this is what I came up with.....Enjoy!!! I made this into a 6X6 easel card. I also used alot of nesties, the ribbon tag and flourish accents from Spellbinders and Martha border punches/branch leaves....the skull is from Tim Holtz grungeboard and I added a bunch of stickles and rhinestones...I also used distress inks to color the image in....this image reminds me of someone truly missing a friend....what do you think? this is just the side view....to make the card cut a 12X6 and score 3" on the 12" side and fold at 6"...then take another piece of cardstock and cut it to be 6X6 and adhere only to the 3" score line as shown in the photo above....you can click on the photos to make them larger if you would like...
I really love this border punch from Martha Stewert with the birds....
for the flower I used the dahlia flower nestie from Spellbinders and added some white ink (also on the birds) to give it a little highlight....Well that's all I have for you today...hop on over to TBD blog and take the challenge..I'd love to see what you come up with......Hugs from a soon to be drowning Charm City....

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge #2

Good Tuesday morning...and we all know what time it is...time for another Burtonesque Dolls challenge....The challenge this week is to make a card that would fit into a Burton movie....we had the lovely digi's from Wild Flower Patch --Jen Shults. They were just so fun to work with. And I just couldn't stop at using one, so I had to do 2 cards...the first one is for the challenge and the second one was just because...you ever get like that? So hop on over and check out what she has available...you will so love her digi's.....they are all amazing..... I got the inspiration from Alice in Wonderland movie...and this spectacular digi just totally fit right in. She's Alice from the Wild Flower Patch. I loved the harlequin background that you see in this movie to....and my paper was actually white but I used distress inks to change the color and make it more rustic...and I am so hooked on feathers right now...I just think they add that little extra flair to a project.....so come on over and do the challenge with all of us Dolls. We would love to see how you make your challenge project.......Enjoy!!!!!! The material flower was hand dyed using tea...I cut a strip using my pinking scissors and then stitched down one side with a needle and gathered the thread to make the flower.... for this card I just had to use the hounds tooth paper from Recollections...and this darling digi Amarylis from the Wild Flower Patch. Isn't she just gorgeous!!!!! The flower on this one is actually a paper flower from Prima and I change it's color using distress inks..I used black soot and added water to the ink to make it lighter in color and was very careful when I painted the color on. I didn't want to wet the paper to much as it might rip. The layout is the same as above but with two totally different looks....so what do you say, come on over and take the challenge......well that's all I have for today....Thank you so much for stopping in and I hope you all have a wonderful week....hugs from a chilly Charm City....

Happy Mother's Day---and an update

I wanted to wish all of you Mother's and Mother's to be a wonderful Happy Mother's Day!!!! I hope you all have an enjoyable day!!!! An update--- the week before last, our water heater took a turn for the worse. Really bad. I was in our little one's room and noticed that her floor was wet so I, being a Mom, went to investigate. Well I didn't like what I found. Our water heater was leaking. We couldn't tell for how long, but her floor was soaked and mold had started to settle in. It had gotten to her carpet, walls and even her bedroom set. In the area that joins up with the wall for the heater is where her desk sits..her set contains the bed that is on top, with a desk that joins on one end and a bookshelf at the other end, and then the bottom bed that comes out that faces outwardly from the top bed...it's like a bunk bed but the bottom bed we took out and left her with a cubbie hole like underneath her bed on top....did that make sense...anywhoo, you just couldn't tell that water was coming in her room....I think it ruined her bedroom set, and I know that we need to lay more carpet and maybe even the walls...the insurance guy came out but we haven't heard back from them yet...We went a purchased a new heater, got it put in the next day but it ended up leaking..so needless to say, we are back on track and it has taken me a few days to play catch up with house hold chores and what not's around here...... So, this week I am hoping to play catch up with everything here in blog land...I miss you all so much....and thank goodness that blogger has a scheduled post thingie ...hence my post for Burtonesque's first challenge...have you been over there yet? Our first challenge was on stripes...come on over and play along...and have you seen what the DT has made for this challenge? I tell ya, them Dolls just RAWK!!!! They did a fantastic job with the digi's and the challenge....so hop on over to the blog and check them out....Our next challenge is this coming Tuesday....so make sure you come back and see what it is....and be ready to play along.... Yesterday was the first day that I was able to sit in here. I had planned on blog hopping, but I realized that I had not even made my Mother's Day cards...so I spent the morning working on them. The cards posted below are for my mother and both my mother-in-laws. How cool is that..I have not one but 3 mother's....and I feel like I am the luckiest person in the world. They are all just so awesome. You know what they say about in-laws. Well I have to admit I have the best in-laws in the world. Not to mention My Mommy...I know, I'm an oldie ( but a kid at heart), she is still my Mommie....lol...Enjoy!!!!!!
I am soooo hooked on feathers right now!!!!! Can ya tell!!!! Papers are from American Crafts and the orange flowered paper is from Basic Grey....
outside...
inside...
I just loved this rick rack when I purchased it, but never found a way to use it until now....
inside...
do you think black is appropriate? I really loved this Basic Grey paper and wanted to use it........the heart charm in the center is actually from our little one's girlfriend's bracelet that had broken here one night....we couldn't fix it, so she was just going to throw all of the pieces away....helloooooo, not in my house. We don't throw away things like that....we keep them....lol....I just added the beads and a pin to the ends.....
inside.......
Well that' s all I have for this morning....remember to have a wonderful time with your families today....Hugs from a chilly Charm City....

BurtonesQue Dolls First Challenge--Stripes

Good Morning blogland...our first of many to come challenges is posted over at The Burtonesque Dolls blog. So pop on over and play along with us. We would love for you to join in on all of the fun. Our challenge was to use stripes. It could be anything from regular to wavy to curvy stripes. It doesn't matter, just use stripes. We were also lucky to be able to use images from Stamp Insanity. They are just the cutest digi images. Take a look over at their site and check them out. You are just going to love them. Here's a direct link to the store. They also offer other stamps and digi's as well. Happy shopping....here's my card--Dreams-- for the challenge...Enjoy!!!!!
for this card I used Lita for the digi image. Isn't she a doll? I printed her off onto watercolor paper and colored her in with distress re-inkers then cut her out. I added an overlay from Creative Imaginations Narratives line by Karen Russell over top of her to give it some added interrest. Pattern paper is from DCWV Safari Chic paper pack. I also used a little safety pin from Tim Holtz that reads "thoughts" but it didn't show up in the photo....
the inside I printed Lita off onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and made her smaller than the one on the front of the card and used Prisma pencils. I downloaded the artist easel from the internet the same way, trimmed them both out and added them to the inside of my card....to get the quote onto the easel, I imported the easel into Microsoft word, typed the quote into the little bubble so it would fit. I just love how you can take a digi image and make it almost any size that you need it to be. I wanted to show that with my card. And to use different mediums as well....
here's just a closer view of the quote. Well that's all I have for today. I do hope that you will go and check out the rest of the dolls' creations and play along with the challenge this week. There is a prize of the three images that the DT has used that goes to the lucky winner....Good Luck and Hugs from Charm City....

Paper is from Making Memories Chloe's Closet (polka dot) and the red pattern is from DCWV....I can't remember who makes the stamp...sorry....Well I do hope everyone has a lovely Sunday...it's suppose to get cloudy and maybe some rain here...Hugs from Charm City!!!!!

Thinking of You

This is my second post for today. If you came here looking for the Burtonesque Dolls blog hop and blog candy scroll down. You will find it below. I wanted to share this little card I made the other day using the sweet barefoot Tilda. It turned out to be super simple. And it's not even a scene card...can you believe that!!!! *smile*..I actually really like the simplicity to....the image is actually cut out and added to a nestability cut...the paper is from 7 Gypsies and I colored in the image with distress re-inkers...well I hope you all have a wonderful day and if you have time scroll down below and take our blog hop. It's our first day and we would love for everyone to join us....Hugs from a very wet Charm City........

The Burtonesque Dolls Blog Hop

Good morning blog land. Today is our day for the dolls. Betty scheduled a hop for us today to showcase a project from all of the dolls. I do hope that you will gander to every one's blog and look at their creations.
If you came here from Nicole's blog then you are on the right track. But if you started with mine, you need to go back to the beginning at The Burtonesque's Blog. Betty has a little game going on. The first one to go from blog to blog, in order and collect a quote from each one, then head back to the Burtonesque Doll's blog, complete the quotes in order and tell her what movie they all come from will win her blog candy from the dolls blog...how fun is this!!!! So make sure you start at the beginning....
So here is my card I made for the hop. I stamped this scene from a variety of stamps to make it. Then colored it in with distress re-inkers. I printed the clip art of Jack from my computer that I found on the net.
So next you will be going to Suzi's blog. She's posted an awesome card to. And make sure you get the quote on her blog. So for my blog here this is what you need to collect: the room started to swell, to shiver and creak....that's all you have to collect from me.....good luck!!!
I am also offering some blog candy myself. All you have to do is post a comment to this post. That's it. Although, if you would like to become a follower that would be nice to. I will ship anywhere. And if you are posting anonymously make sure you leave your e-mail for me in case you are the lucky winner.
The candy consists of:
Autumn Leaves Gypsy style clear stamps and ink pad
Tim Holtz little metal lunch box Making Memories keys, blossoms and vintage ribbon tags
See D's lil Mother's Day stamp set
I will leave this up until Friday April 30th and post the winner on Saturday May 1st....
Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you have fun with our first blog hop over at TBD blog. Good luck!!!! Hugs from a very wet Charm City!!!!

I Came, I went, I Shopped--Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge

I am so sorry, I just couldn't resist this for this card. When I put this card together I had no idea what I was going to put for the greeting. Or what I was going to put behind the fence. (I do that a lot, put the card together before I know what I want to use.) The only thing that came to mind was, let's go shopping. But I didn't want the same, boring greeting as I have used on previous cards and wanted to step it up a knotch....*smile*...so I was flipping through my Ultimate guide to the perfect word book, and came across this greeting and sentiment (posted behind the fence) and thought, how fitting for so many of us out there in blog land. If by some reason you don't have this book, I would highly suggest having it. I purchased mine at Michael's and I'm pretty sure they still have them. Anywhoo--I made this card for the sketch challenge over at Magnolia-licious Highlites blog. The every umber creative Claudia supplied the sketch for this challenge. So if you find yourself looking for something to do, hop over and do this challenge. I just hope I did it justice. I purchased my Maggie stamps ( Tilda with bike--beach fence and the ever so cool general store) stamps from the sweet Miss Diana over at Magnolia-licious Store. Come on, you all know you want to have these in your stash of stamps (if you don't already). They are so fun and versatile. You can use them in so many other ways than what they are intended for. Look at the beach fence--I didn't use that for a beach card, or the general store stamp if you want trim off the general store part at the top and use it for something else. Just a couple ideas.... Well we are off today for our niece's 4th birthday party. Oh how I Love little kid's parties. I just love to see the little one's having such a blast, laughing and smiling and getting all of that cake over their faces. Priceless memories....Enjoy!!!!
I used all distress re-inkers to color everything in....pop dotted the cute little Tilda up....and printed greeting off the computer...I also used those thingies from Karen Foster brads that have those loops so you can tie something together. I just trimmed those off. I really wanted these brads because of the texture to make it look like something you would see as a closure on a fence....and I just added stickles here and there to give it some interest.
here's the open view...I actually stamped the beach fence twice on each side to get the length I needed and just trimmed off what I didn't need...then matted it onto black card stock and trimmed but left the black card stock longer on the ends so that it would wrap around and underneath the matted store stamp...
I also added black card stock to the backing of these stamps. I just figured it made it look more finished. .....
Some really exciting news is that the design team is up over at Burtonesque Dolls Blog. We are gearing up for a hop next Tuesday April 27th at 12 am...so hop over and check out the amazing team that Betty put together. And don't forget to hop back on the 27 th to check out the blog hop. She's put together a prize package and I know the team will also be having candy that day on their blogs. This will be such an amazing journey with these dolls...and I can't wait.... every Tuesday will be a new challenge posted..so make sure you all come back for those---
Well--I hope you all have a wonderful day...I know we will other than the raining days ahead of us here...Hugs from a wet and chilly Charm City....

Birthday Wishes Card and Box Set

Happy Thursday...today I'd like to share with you a card and box that I made using my Pazzles machine. I got the file (cutesy cover) from My Time Made Easy. It was a free download file and I just did a download for my Pazzles (WPC file). There were other options to use for other machines and even a PDF file so you could print this off and just use your scissors. I resized this to fit onto a 12X12 piece of paper otherwise it cuts it at 8.5X11. Thank you Lauren for this freebie...but I do have to say between the two of them (the card and box) they just don't flow. I think my problem with them are the flowers. One is a pastel pink and the other is a cherry color...so I'm thinking of removing the pink flower on the card and changing it out to match the other one or just making another card...If you get a chance pop on over to her site and check out the other templates she has. Some very creative ones to play with....The Tilda with violin I received from Diana from the Magnoliacious store. Thank you Diana!!!! Go and check out all of the new collection of stamps that Miss Diana has gotten in. They look so pretty. I want so many of them, but I just can't justify buying some right now. But I do have a birthday, anniversary and even Mother's Day is coming soon....get my hint...lol.... Anywhoo, I want to thank everyone that stopped by yesterday and left me a comment on my Edwin card. Didn't he look dapper sittin in his chair? And many thanks for answering my question about the borderabilities...I got it...you know, the light bulb went off...lol....and I went DUH!!!! LOL...thank you!!!!Thanks for stopping in today and I hope everyone has a lovely day...I do have a couple more scene cards to post soon (still trying to get them finished) and a couple of other cards that I used my dusty materials on, so come back again tomorrow, I'll post more....Enjoy!!!!! see what I mean about the flow...it just doesn't work for me....what do you think....seriously...does it flow for you? just a little closer view of the card.... here's the box...the butterflies I cut using the clipart from my Pazzles machine...a little tip: When I put my things together like boxes and such, I don't normally use my regular adhesive. I use what I call wet glue. Aleene's tacky glue. I have foud that this is perfect for this. Once this is dry it makes your project feel like you used cardboard instead of cardstock. Oh and also, I forgot to delete the performation marks before I cut it out (which you really don't have to) and I had to use book binding tape (Making Memories) for added support, so it wouldn't fall apart down the road...did that make any sense? If you click on the photo you can see what I mean by the marks.... open view...I have 2 bottles of 4.5 fl. oz bottles of lotion and body wash with room to spare inside...it turned out pretty tall...I have so many ideas for this....for the closure I used a purse snap closure that I got out of the purse section at Joann's...
Well that's it for today....Hugs from Charm City....

Just Because

Good morning...well chilly willy morning here...I thought spring was here, but it seems like it's taken a bit of a vacation...lol....I wanted to pop in here and share a card I had made with Edwin. I can't seen to remember what everyone calls this type of card, but I was finally able to make one. I really enjoyed all of the cards I had seen on the net and thought I'd give a go at one. But before I show you the card I do have a question about the borderabilities from Spellbinders.
Here's my question: how do you get the border to cut out fully on both sides? It seems like only one side will cut and I have to go in with my scissors and finish the opposite side. Is this right? Did I get a bum die? Or is there a trick to using these dies? I have gone to Spellbinders site and snooped around but for the life of me couldn't find anything that could help. Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Now onto my card. I hope you enjoy peeking as I did making this card.....Enjoy!!!!!
here's the front of the card...I used my nesties to make the window and border. Edwin, chair and house scene are from Magnolia and the curtains, plant and rug are from Doodle Factory Boudoir collection, paper from DCWV and flowers are from Prima......on the side there's a tag that pulls out for my journaling...
just a closer view....
side view....
view with the tag pulled out...I added a little red acrylic heart (Heidi Grace) to the corner of the tag...
Thanks for stopping in today. Hugs from a soon to be wet Charm City.....

The Wizard of Oz and an Award

Good morning....I would like to share an 8X8 double page layout I made for the circle journal book swap that I'm in. We were asked to make a layout about your favorite movie when you were a child. I have to say I have a couple, but this is my all time favorite. I had no idea how I was going to make this either. I did however find a sticker sheet and that is what I used. I aslo made a pull out tag with my journaling...I hope that she will like this in her book....sorry for the photos too....lighting wasn't the best....
here's the 2 pages together...
the left side....
the right side....
this is how I made the pull out tag.....
this is how I made the page tab and numbers..I've always liked to have a little way to turn the pages in my books so I thought I'd add this to her book too...
I was just over joyed when I received this blogger award from the lovely Scrappin Lil Creative Side .... if you get a chance pop on over to her blog and check it out. She makes some lovely layouts and cards too.....Thank you so much Lil for thinking of me and sending this award to me. It simply made my day. I'm so sorry that it took me a little longer to share this to...
Now I need to reveal 7 things about myself and send this to 15 other people....but I have to say that I just love everyone's blogs that I visit. I get so much inspiration from all of your lovely works of art and I would be tickled pink if you would like to take this award and share it on your blog and pass it on to. So here goes, my 7 things...I don't know if you already know these things but I'll share them....
1...I want world peace and no more hunger for all of mankind.
2...I go to the beach all of the time, but can't stand the sun...or should I say, the sun doesn't like me.
3...when I was younger I had always dreamed of being a truck driver...you know after BJ and the Bear show...lol...so when I grew up, one of my boyfriends was a truck driver...he owned his own small fleet...and it's really not all cracked up to be what I had thought it would be.... 4...I use to play track, volleyball, basketball and softball in school. And get creamed by my brothers and their friends at football...lol...
5...a secret dream---I have always wanted to be good enough to be a "paid" artist....
6...I'm from a family of 5 children...3 boys and 2 girls...from Tecumseh, Michigan..as they say the swamp land...which in turn ,turned out to be farm land...very rich soil...and the ever so famous Chief Tecumseh from the Shawnee indian tribe.
7...my very first car was a VW Rabbit..I use to have to plug it in to the wall to get it charged for the battery...oh how we have come a long way...lol...
Well that's all I have for today...I hope everyone has a lovely rest of the week...I'm going to try and get some photos taken of some other cards I've made and share them later....Hugs from a very sunny Charm City....

Wishing you a Very Happy Day

Good morning blogland. I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was a spring cleaning mode around here and then we spent Sunday with family for our Easter dinner. It was such a beautiful day outside to. We had a wonderful time with everyone. Other than that we have just been trying to get things done around our home to get it ready for summer. Getting the flowers planted and revamping the patio since we lost our canopy during the winter storms. Our tiki bar weathered through it but she's a bit distressed to...so the card above is one that I made just because. I was trying to use the Van Gogh technique on the background but didn't achieve much of it. Although I do like how it turned out. I used distress re-inkers to color everything in....the card below is a Sugar Nellie...isn't she just soo pretty? This was another quick card just adding what ever I grabbed from my dusty stash. Well that's all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by and for your comments. They really make my day....have a great week.....hugs from a very beautiful Charm City....

Kraftin Kimmie Challenge #23

Happy sunny Monday. I hope everyone else is having a lovely sunny spring day as ours has started out being. It's suppose to be in the 80's today and sunny..a far cry from what we were getting a month ago with all of the snow we were dealing with. But hey, I am so not complaining. I'm loving this. Now if we could just get better here in our home. I'm feeling better, it's just the energy hasn't caught up yet. DH is still abit under with that darn ol' flu bug, but I think he's coming around. So the card below is for the challenge over at Kraftin Kimmie's challenge blog. It's called getting punchy...hop on over and join in. And make sure you stop in at the store and check out all of those awesom and very adorable stamps....it's getting that time for another release also, so keep an eye open for that.....I colored all images in with distress re-inkers and that little leather thingy at the bottom is half of a bracelet that I purchased at 7-11 one day...I just tore it apart and used it for this card....lol.....well that's all I have for today. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter yesterday and that your bellies aren't feeling all of that chocolate....hugs from a very springy day here in Charm City.....

Happy Easter

Happy Easter blog land. Just a real quick post this morning to share this paper bag that I made this morning. Sorry the photo isn't better.....I was literally sitting here at 7 am. at the puter blog hoppin and realized I needed another bag/Easter basket.....it's not the best, but I think he'll like it. It's for my nephew and he loves to fish. I had colored this fishing shed last week and just didn't know what I wanted to do with it. I thought it was perfect for a young man that likes to fish and get goodies...lol....the fishing shed I got from Magnolia-Licious Store, the bunny, greeting and the egg border at the bottom are from the $1 bin at Michaels and the tag is from the peony cut from Spellbinders.....and make sure you pop on over to Magnolia-licious Highlites blog and check out the challenge....thanks for stopping by and I do hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.....Hugs from a very SWEET and SUNNY Charm City....
